Sunday Post

Sleepy Sunday. I biked over 70 kilometers yesterday and helped a friend move (translation: attempt to clean kitchen by washing piled-up dishes from I don't want to know how long) and I'm hoping to get a lot of errand-y stuff done today too, so yeah, busy lazy day :) Have a good week!

I came across Basia Bulat in the aisle at HMV. I saw the cover for her new album in the middle of the stack and, I dunno, it just connected with something in me. However, given my severe lack of spendable mnoney I didn't impulse-buy it (though it was bloody tempting) and instead looked up a bunch of her stuff to see if it would be worth getting. End verdict is looking like a "yes."

Sunday Post

Hello Sunday! (hello homework)
Classes are almost done, but generally that also means there's an assload of large things due soon and that is the case right now. Post, breakfast (don't be hatin', this is the first time I've slept past 8 AM since last sunday) and then to the school - wheeeeee.

Um, so that post I was talking about last weekend that didn't happen.... I'll try and get it up for sure this week but I unfortunately can't make any promises. In any case, still lots of good stuff here today and a treat that I am pretty stoked about.

The treat this week is a big treat for me too. As much as I love the Cancer Bats, I kinda forgot to keep track of what they're up to, and I suddenly discovered a few days ago via youtube that they're putting out a new album in a few weeks. First music video is a cover of the Beatie Boys' "Sabotage" and it's incredibly awesome and hilarious.

Sunday Post

Hey everyone, hope the weekend's been treating you well.
Bunch of pictures this week, plus a music video treat!
Oh, I'm hopefully going to put a post up tomorrow or tuesday - I've been filling up a topical folder here and there so I'll be sticking those up soon :)

For those of you unfamiliar with Oli Schroer (probably an unfortunately high number), he was a fiddler/teacher/magical man who died from leukemia just a couple years ago. Several people I know knew him very well - like I said, he was a teacher for people of all ages, and just had a way of touching people deep inside. Hell, I never even met the man (I didn't even know about him until after he'd died) and he gives me butterflies and a big smile. In particular, the last music he wrote before his death is just the most... "deep" music I've heard. I can't think of how to describe the feeling it gives me, there's just something more "mystical" or whatever about the way his last music was put together. You listen to it, and you know you're listening to music he wrote because he knew he was going to die very soon, and there's no bitterness or regret or anything like that in the music. Here is a man who is completely welcoming and unafraid of his own death. It's just.... I can't word it how I'd really like. You decide for yourself.
